How to scale distributed tracing?
This is the story of tracing at scale at Razorpay. I am a big fan of their engineering. This week, Venkat and Subin have shared the thought process behind how they have narrowed down to Hypertrace to do tracing at scale in a cost-effective way.
Kubernetes Security Best Practices
ARMO shared a thorough article on Kubernetes security. They also have an open-source product, Kubescape, which I have found to improve the security of your Kubernetes cluster. It comes with compliance audits such as NSA-CISA, MITRE ATT&CK and more.
Golang or Rust?
Are you confused about when should I use Golang vs Rust or vice versa? You are probably not alone. Michiel has tried to answer this question from a variety of perspectives.
Distributed Storage in Cloud
FOSDEM 22 videos are now available. These are the treasures of good talks on a variety of topics. I particularly enjoyed the overview of distributed storage options in the Cloud-native world, which gives you an overall perspective of various databases (relational, NoSQL, OLAP), and the file storage options.
Featured Projects
SoundCloud’s Periskop — It is an open-source exception monitoring system similar to Sentry, which uses Prometheus for storing events. Obviously, you can store these events in your generic logging system, but this opinionated solution has its own advantages.
Continuous Profiling Projects — Google started it a long time ago for their infrastructure, and since then it is gaining a lot of popularity, and it makes sense to keep them always on, even in production. Many of them are now eBPF-based and have very low profiling overhead. Having it on and data available can help in cost optimization.

Mentoring Support
I recently signed up with Mentoring Club as a mentor. This is a non-profit organization started by some folks from Zalando, Europe, and you can find excellent mentors (690) here from various domains and experiences.
